Our brief was to elevate the existing food court experience and create an environment that not only reflects customer diversity but also make the food court a destination.
Our ambition was to transport the customer out of the conventional food court archetype and out of the dark mall environment. We achieved this by taking advantage of the natural light, the inclusion of greenery, the choice of fresh contemporary furniture, the magnificent overhead lighting installation as well as celebrating local art & design.
Remarkably, two original Esther Mahlangu art murals frames the foodcourt on either side. The entire void space is also adorned with bespoke light designs in collaboration with MOSS studio.
The food court is no longer just a place to eat, it has become a South African destination that elevates the Southgate shopping experience for locals & tourists alike.
